Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What should we wear?
Clothes should be very plain; no patterns, logos or solid white. Dark and medium tones are best. Denim, fleece and most sweaters photograph beautifully. The goal is to get a timeless portrait that will not look dated in 20 years. Clothes tend to be the number one thing that date photographs.
What if the weather is ugly?
Most of the times the weather is not as ugly as you may think. You will be surprised what I can do in any environment and during any season of the year.
All shoots are done on location, or at your home with natural light. I am looking for a room with open space and an abundance of natural light; double doors or garages work the best.
What if the weather is bad?
Extreme wind, rain, etc... may deem it necessary for a reschedule. If this happens, I will work with you to get you and your family in front of the camera as soon as possible.
Things to know:
All photos are taken digitally to allow the option of color or black and white.
Families with children
It is best to schedule your shoot when your child is happiest. This usually means that they are well-rested and fed. If your child's nap schedule has been interrupted the day of the shoot, please call to discuss whether our appointment time will still work for your child.
If you have a baby, it helps if they know peek-a-boo and have a favorite song.
If your child is not feeling well, it is best to reschedule your shoot. Sick children do not have much patience for photos. The same applies if your child has any scratches or bumps on their face. My favorite pictures are up close and show everything. Small bumps or scratches can be touched up, but large bruises or chapped areas from pacifiers cannot.
Please understand that children between the ages of 9 months and three years of age are the most challenging subjects to photograph. Crawling babies and toddlers are essentially moving targets. These shoots will be a little more photojournalistic as these ages rarely allow me to pose them.
Shoots usually take about one hour, however, I have been on shoots as long as two hours and as little as 30 minutes.
The sitting fee is paid at the time of the shoot.
